2. Take Ricky to the dog park at least once a month as weather permits.
3. Keep up with cleaning the litter box.
4. Keep the apartment organized and clean (clutter-free, dust doesn't bother me so much)

My silly girl has come so far from the first day she came into our family. She lets me pet her more and more, although it's still on her terms. She also sleeps by me almost every night. What a beautiful little girl I have. I wouldn't trade her for anything.

Tuesday Review: The Monster Trucks

My nephew Zach and I saw the Monster Trucks this weekend. We had so much fun. This was our second annual Monster Truck event we've attended. I had always wanted to see them when I was little. It's so awesome watching the trucks SMASH junk cars, it's too great. The best part, sharing those special moments with your nephew. The monster trucks is good family fun. LOTS of families there with boys and girls! Remember though it does get really loud. If it's winter, dress warmly, it gets cold too inside the stadium. The tickets are very affordable and before most shows you get to go down and see the trucks up close and touch them. GREAT time!

1. I'm hoping to workout at my office's fitness center one or two nights a week.

2. I plan to (actually I've already started) drinking more water. It tastes so refreshing and I'm getting to the point where I like it more than my Diet Pepsi!

3. I want to significantly cut my sweet intake. Diabetes runs rampant in my family. I need to be more careful.

My ultimate goal is to weigh 125 lbs.

My Spiritual Goals
Read the Bible everyday (I really really need to work on this area. I was doing so well and have really fallen off the wagon).

Pray to God and listen to Him before going to bed. (I like this time, although I don't make the most of it as I should. I don't take the time to do it always. I like talking to God and just listening to Him speak to my heart. Sometimes, I'll just drift off to sleep and it feels as though I've fallen asleep in Jesus' arms! What an awesome feeling)

Write more in my praise journal.

What a wonderful day we had on Christmas! So much wonderful time with family. It was just great! We also got some really nice gifts.
The kitties got lots of goodies, a feathery mouse, toy snake, and spring mouse scratch thing, and two mouser mouses.

Ricky got some treats, a toy reindeer, toy alligator, and a toy giraffe.

I got some awesome things too. My top gifts were a Catwoman statue, jewelry box with some goodies in it, a handmade blanket, and a Nixon kitty statue hehe.

Luke 2:8-18 (The Message)
There were sheepherders camping in the neighborhood. They had set night watches over their sheep. Suddenly, God's angel stood among them and God's glory blazed around them. They were terrified. All who heard the sheepherders were impressed.

This is one of my favorite little Christmas books. I sit it out every year. I adore Mickey's Christmas Carol, it's my favorite telling of the Charles Dicken's classic. I had one of these Little Golden Books when I was a child and cherished it. As I said every year, when I was older, I'd sit it out for Christmas as a decoration. Well, one year, while in high school, I was out, and my cousin was unattended for a moment and ripped up my precious treasure. I was so upset. I was sad for my loss, but was forgiving. After all, my cousin was a cutie.

A few years ago, however, I was lucky enough to find the book on e-bay, in good shape, and at a reasonable price. It may not be the one I had, but it sure brings back some memories when I sit it out each year. I loved looking through and reading this story when I was little. It' just like the 30-min. movie that I adore so much.

The point of my story is this: No matter how much you treasure a material thing, be it a book from childhood, beautiful ornament, or any favorite, seemingly irreplaceable, thing, nothing is more valuable than a life! Whether it's an unattended little cousin, a curious kitty, or a teething pug pup-that's what you should really value. So remember the next time the child in your life plays a little too roughly with your beloved teddy, your cat crashes down the Christmas tree, or your pup pees on your scrapbook. It hurts. It's hard to let go of important things that bring back precious memories and yes, sometimes they can't be replaced. Remember, however, you do still have the memories, and you have something before you even more wonderful and meaningful-that child, that cat, or that pup. Treasure them!

I remember Nixon's first Christmas. He was a bit smaller than he is now hehe, but not really tiny :) It was sooo precious. He was just fascinated by his Christmas tree. He really got into the decorating, literally. He climbed right up into the tree, knocking off ornaments, garland and even some branches. Oh there's nothing quite like having a cat at Christmas :) They may bring a little extra work, but they sure make up for it with all the extra fun :)

Here's my Build-a-Rudolph from Build-a-Bear. I LOVE Build-a-Bear and I think Rudolph may be my favorite animal I've built there. It was so much fun. He looks just like the claymation! His nose lights up and he talks he says: "Hi I'm Rudolph" and "I'm cute!"

Build-a-Bear is a fun place! The staff is sooo friendly. If you order online, shipping is very very quick and they have some great online deals. If you're interested in Rudolph hurry fast, supplies are limited and I think this is the last year they're going to be doing Rudolph. They offer Clarice, his little girlfriend too.

No that isn't the size of our Thanksgiving turkey, it's the size of Nixon! That's right. At his annual check up, I learned that my 7-year-old beauty is 19.5 pounds. But he's not fat, he's just a big, sturdy boy! The vet said he's in great health and that as long as he stays under 20 we'll be good. I may have to watch his foods intake, however.

I was so proud of my big boy, he was so good! He's just the sweetest baby in the world. I'm so thankful that he's in good health.

Tuesday Review: A meeting with Batman!

Last weekend I lived a dream – a dream that conspired when I was just a little girl sitting in front of the television set watching re-runs of the 1960's Batman show starring Adam West and Burt Ward. I met Batman!

I've been in love with the caped crusader since I was very young. Adam West was actually my first introduction to the dashing Dark Knight. Meeting him is one of the coolest things I've done in my entire life and probably one of the most cherished things I will ever do.

He was so kind. He signed my comic book, the recently released "Mis-Adventures of Adam West." During our "photo shoot," which took all of 45 seconds, he called me over as I waited by the entrance: "Hurry on over here you gorgeous thing you." My heart stopped! Oh my goodness, not only was I walking toward this man who's long-held my affections but he noticed me! He said I was gorgeous! I think I was smiling the rest of the day, come to think of it I'm still smiling right now. Thank you Mr. West for being so kind to your fans, especially a love-sick, star-struck girl who's heart will forever belong to the Batman with the blue cape.

It was a Bat-tastic time!

Wow! It's been just too long! Boy have I missed blogging. Sorry I've been so busy lately with my job or should I say jobs. I was still doing my old job and my new job (while the company was looking for a new hire)! It's just been crazy! The new job, a reporter position, required me to work nights, as well as days. Yeah, it's pretty crazy. Well, I may hold the record for the most job changes in two months! That's right. I was offered an assistant editor position at another company and decided to take the jump. Tomorrow is my first day. I'm very excited but also nervous it's a whole new beginning. Please remember in your prayers and hopefully I'll be back to regular blogs posts. Talk to you soon!

Tuesday Review: Taylor Swift concert

On Sept. 16 I visited Nashville with a friend to see Taylor Swift in concert. It was by far the best concert I've ever seen. Taylor puts on a fantastic show, that's completely fan-oriented. It's like watching a play, both elegant and fun. She even pops out in the audience to greet the fans, sings in the middle of the audience and even flies up to the cheap seats of the house so everyone has a chance to see her up close.

Taylor Swift is wildly talented. She writes her own songs, all about her experiences in love and life. And my goodness can the girl put on a show. She's also as cute as a button!

I know it sounds crazy, she's so young and I'm going to be 30 next year but I can relate to almost every song on her album "Speak Now." Her songs are chocked full of raw emotion, wrapped up in creative melodies complimented by lovely lyrics. Taylor you are awesome thank you so much for sharing your talent. I hope you go all the way in your career and life!

I ordered the tickets from Metro Entertainment. They were very good at communicating and sent the tickets in time and really delivered! We had great seats that were reasonably priced! Personally, I think the best in the house because we had a great view of the entire stage and then, Taylor surprised the audience by coming out behind the floor seats and singing about three songs. She was about 12 feet in front of us!

This weekend, I visited Coney Island to watch a balloon race. Little did I know I would be marking off a bucket list item for free, courtesy of the amusement park! It was so much fun, it was a tethered ride, but I count it as a ride, hey, I did go up in the air. It was so amazing. I really enjoyed it. Some day I hope to ride around in one, but this free trip will have to due me for now. What a fantastic experience.

Fatty update

I got an update about my Fat Man recently. Fatty decided to live with him papa after the divorce. He's very close to him papa. I hear that Fatty is doing great. He moved to a new house and has adjusted well. The best part is he has a new little friend who looks just like him. They are having a blast together. Please remember to think of Fatty. I know he's always on my mind. I love my Fat Man. Even though he doesn't live with us anymore, he's still very much a part of the Purs n' Snorts gang. We miss him and love him and are so happy for him.

Tuesday Review: Dinosaur World

Dinosaur World, in Cave City, Kentucky is one of my favorite places. The life-sized statues are just amazing. Walking through the wooded path you really feel like you've traveled back in time – not just to a prehistoric era, but to your childhood. It's a great place for kids of all ages. There's so many cool dino scenes and wonderful picture opportunities. If you're in the area or one of their other locations in Plant City, Florida or Glen Rose, Texas.

Mancat Monday: Good, but expensive eats

Nixon loves his foods he eats c/d prescription diet food, it's a special food that helps prevent UTIs, which he is very prone too because of his mis-shaped bladder. All of the cats eat this food and LOVE it. However, recently the price has gone up about $20! Does anyone know of any other cat food that helps prevent UTIs but that's a little more affordable? Or perhaps a reliable web site where it may be more affordable.

This past weekend I visited Kentucky Down Under in Horse Cave, KY and got to cross off a "to do" from my bucket list. I petted a kangaroo! This quaint nature park offers a little glimpse of life in Australia. It offers a hands-on family fun adventure for all ages. I LOVED this park. You really get up close and personal with these beautiful creatures. It's a wonderful bonding experience to share with your family. In addition to the kangaroos there's a display of lovely birds and various other fun activities including a cave tour! The park is affordable and a real treasure.

I highly recommend visiting this area, it's half way between Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN. There's lots of other cave touring opportunities, as well as a trip back to prehistoric ages at Dinosaur World (I'll review this adventure park next Tuesday).

Sweet Pea is a good girl!

Sweet Pea went to the vet today, the first time she's visited my vet since I adopted her. As you know, she's a bit of a wild girl and doesn't like to be touched unless she approaches you. I was a little nervous about how she'd behave at the vet. She did so good! What a very good girl. I couldn't wait to brag on her.

She was scared, the poor thing was shaking, but she kept calm throughout the exam. She's a healthy 8-pound little dream.

While she was there, I got to cuddle and kiss her for the very first time. It was so nice. I just love my brave little girl.

This past weekend I, now 29, lived the ultimate dream of my 14-year-old self.

When I was a teenager back in 1997, there was a young man taking over the Country Music scene – his name, Bryan White.

A string of No. 1 hits and a huge teen following, Bryan was the ideal heartthrob. His boyish good looks, sweet voice, and charming disposition won my heart. I was “in love,” well, at that time that’s what I called it, now I realize it was infatuation. It was a healthy obsession, however, something most teen girls have gone through since the likes of Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. I bought all his CDs, hung pictures on my wall, and bought every magazine he graced the cover of. Those were the days when life was simple – fun.

As time progressed, the pictures came down, the magazines were tucked away, but I always kept the CDs handy. His music has been very special to me, as I’ve grown up and things have become complicated. But hey, I’m still having fun.

This past weekend, I paid homage to those simpler days as I visited Bryan’s home with a handful of very fortunate and very dedicated fans.

To quote my 14-year-old self after seeing Bryan in concert for the first time: “It was totally awesome!”

Bryan opened his home, graciously, even greeting everyone as they walked through the front door. This was indeed the ultimate fan experience, an up-close and very personal look into his life. What a wonderful thing to share.

We all gathered in his back yard for a private concert, truly a once-in-a-lifetime kind of deal. He was so comfortable with us and I really felt at home – it was like being with a friend instead of my teen idol. Bryan is so talented, I could listen to him sing for hours – and that’s just what we did in his own backyard! We were also invited in to hang out in his private in-home studio where he writes and makes his music.

Thank you Bryan for sharing that evening with us. It’s something I only dreamed of as a kid, now it’s something I’ll cherish the rest of my life.

David Roger's Big Bugs are on display at the Glenwood Gardens in Cincinnati. These are some really fun sculptures and if you get an opportunity to check them out do so. We had so much fun with the Big Bugs! Well well worth the admission price.

At last the Purs n' Snorts blog has it's very own unique look thanks to the wonderful talents of the Zoolatry human. I am so excited about this venture. I think it looks wonderful, no bias here :) I like it's simple clean layout and the beautiful beautiful header. That's right it's Ragdoll time! I love having a Ragdoll. Charlie is so beautiful and he's the sweetest little kitty. He's so loving. When you pet him he just throws himself into your hands. It's like the can't get close enough. What a cutie!

Tuesday Review: Ornament Day!

Forrest has a tradition. He collects the Star Wars and Star Trek Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments. Every year he gets up early and visits the Hallmark store to gather his ornaments. This year I participated in the tradition. It was so much fun. I fell in love with so many of the ornaments, but controlled myself and purchased only two. I got a Harry Potter one for a friend and the 1966 Batmobile which is totally awesome and even plays the theme song from the show! Forrest bought me the Pug ornament, which, as you can see, is too cute for words.

OK, I know this is off the subject of pets, but I just had to share that my absolute favorite artist of all time is hosting a special concert at his home August 6. Check out the details of the BBQ with Bryan White. Let me know if you're going or if you like him too. He was very popular in the mid-90s on the Country Music scene. One of the sweetest famous people I know (well have met hehe). I'm so giddy. I feel like a teenager again, this is going to be super fabulous!

My friend Julie and I made some special friends this weekend at a visit to Build-a-Bear. Meet Blizzy (Julie's bear) and Cookie (my bear) the newly featured DQ Blizzard Bears.

I just love Build-a-Bear. It's so much fun. You get to go in, pick out an animal to love and stuff it full of stuffing and then pick out an outfit for it. It's a blast. I highly recommend it for young and big kids alike!.
